First week without the Pill.

Technically, I took my last pill exactly 2 weeks ago, but every month I would do 1 week break for my period and I would start taking the next pack on the 8 th day after the last pill. This month I did not start another pack, which means last week was the first unusual week for my body that’s why I call it my first week off the pill. My observations: THE MOOD -           Overall I feel weird, I feel like I’m in the point ‘zero’, I don’t feel good and I don’t feel bad neither. I kind of feel nothing. My emotions are very quiet and low, but it’s very hard to say whether it’s because of the hormones physically affecting my mood, or I am creating this nothingness in my head because I am expecting SOMETHING and there is nothing unusual happening (yet). -             Over the years I made the observation that my cycle affects my energy for exercising. At the end of my period ...

Coconut oil and Bee Pollen for quicker ‘off the Pill’ recovery?

Few days ago I came across a very interesting dietary suggestion for a post Pill deregulated body. In The Holy Kale post titled ' Getting Off Birth Control Pills? Now What? ' (click to read the original) among others such as eliminating xenoestrogens and supplementing complex of B vitamins ,   the author suggests to include healthy saturated fat (such as coconut oil) and Bee or Flower Pollen rich in bioflavonoids into the diet.  The suggestion intrigued me because I already know and practice the rest of the points listed by the author but above two were an interesting surprise. After a further research I found out that indeed, the body and more precisely the liver uses saturated fats to actually make hormones and uses bioflavonoids as hormones building blocks. Taking them daily helps to bring back the hormonal balance in the woman’s body. I didn’t have to think long, I dug a jar of organic coconut oil from the back of my cupboard which I have bought few m...

My exercise routine and 1 month challenge

I enjoy working out, but till recently I was doing it purely to stay fit and good-looking. Since the spring 2013 when I gained heavy interest into processes of how the body works, what really fuels it and what keeps it healthy my focus shifted from working out for good-looks to exercising for long lasting health. Ironically, since then it’s so much easier for me to motivate myself to get up every day and exercise and having good shape which is a natural effect of these actions is almost effortless.  What happened to make me change my focus? Nothing in particular, I just started to be very curious about how to provide optimal conditions for a body to thrive and as they say ‘when the student is ready, the teacher arrives’; I came across a series of youtube seminars by Nutritionist and Naturopath Barbara O'Neill   packed with amazing healthy tips and insights which just resonates with my mind, soul and body and ever since I made little adjustments to my diet and exer...

No Pill ... so what’s now?

I know this topic is pretty intimate and selecting non- hormonal contraception method is a very personal choice, but I want to share what I decided to use from now on because few weeks ago I was looking for some kind of advise or even information or opinion from somebody who also decided not to use hormones regardless being sexually active and in a long term relationship and I just couldn’t find information I was looking for. I basically decided to combine natural with barrier methods. Simply speaking I’ll be charting my cycle and we will be avoiding intercourse during my ovulation and few days leading to it (even with the condom), and during the rest of the cycle we will be using condoms. Lady-Comp, £425 on Amazon Cyclotest, £149.32 on Amazon  Recently my attention draws Fertility Monitors such as Lady-Comp or cheaper version Cyclotest. Lady-Comp is quite pricy for what it does (it’s pretty much automated cycle charting) but apparently it makes women’s life s...
